I have a big plastic concrete mixer I use for tumbling forged steel as a blacksmith. The plastic mixer is way quieter but it's still quite loud. I have a ton of steel slugs I got from a fabrication shop and a bunch of walnut shell media to tumble my products with. It's a little slower than ceramic media would be but they come out with a nice shiny finish instead of a dull matte finish. Like having another employee at the shop instead of wasting time with the wire wheel bench grinder for hours on end.

To quiet it, spray it with polyurethane expanding foam. If you wanna contain it to a uniform cover, use a plastic bag around drum and spray into void between bag and drum.

You could make a box out of foam insulation and deaden the sound with sound mat on the outside of the foam. It may need some ventilation though...

seen them use a big truck / shovel tire set verticllly on rollers for the same thing , advantage of that is that its kinda sound deadening and once the keramic parts work away the inner rubber you can simply put another tire on there , can probably allso use wider rollers and set up a couple of tires next to eachother
